Today, we’ve managed to grab hold UN1T’s Manager, Jaimie, to chat more about how the community spirit is created within the gym and how hardcore their workouts really are!

So, what can we expect in a usual day in the life of Jaimie?

First thing in the morning ...it’s all about food and coffee! Starting my day off with a nutritious breakfast (right now I’m all about a big egg scramble and roast tomatoes) and a big cup of coffee gets me fired up for a full day of studio work! Then I’m down to one of the studios to hop into a class, and get started on work. Each day is entirely different with what the tasks will bring! The buzz is real, UN1T is so different because it’s athletic conditioning in a supportive and encouraging environment. Education and knowledge are the cornerstones of our programs, and each class we strive to teach members something new so that they continue to become better athletes. It helps that we have some of the loveliest members in all of London making it easy to get stuck in!

UN1T celebrates great team spirit inhouse, we achieve that by... the way we design our classes! Our ethos is about training as one. Whether you are working beside a partner during strength, or cheering on the sled during Trooper, we encourage everyone to motivate their fellow UN1T members! There’s no “I” in team, just as there is no “I” in UN1T! We train as one to complete each and every class!

UN1T never stops – I balance work and home (and school)life... via a very detailed diary! Balance is difficult to achieve, but I try my best through lists and prioritising. Although the days can sometimes be long, when you are doing something you love, half the time it doesn’t feel like work at all!

Relax, train or go out- what’s on the cards for tonight? Train! I’m in summer body mode, and re-focusing my efforts on some physical challenges I’ve given myself. Luckily, my husband is loving his conditioning at UN1T too, so we train together and get some couple time in!

On the menu for dinner tonight...is a quick and easy one! Turmeric roast chicken, on a bed of lettuce with a side of brown rice and roast cauliflower. There may be a cheeky dessert spoon of Mindful Bites Hazelnut and Cacao spread calling my name after…

1. It’s cheat day, where do you eat and what’s your meal?

Bao! My husband and I are addicted to Bao, and absolutely love spending an evening heading into BAO Fitzrovia and having ourselves one (or three) bao. Add a glass of vino on the side, and of course, ice cream for dessert, and you’ve got yourself a happy girl.

2.What’s the most hardcore workout you have done to date?

The UN1T staff recently tried the new UN1T class hitting the schedule, PB. We are all a bit competitive, so of course, push ourselves to our very max. I was knocking on death’s door for most of that 45 minutes. UN1T, you’ve got a great class coming your way!

3.Can you give any advice to our readers on how to keep energy levels up and stay motivated?

My personal advice is to set small, achievable goals for yourself. It could be daily, weekly, or monthly, but whatever it is, it needs to be bite sized so that you can weave it into your everyday routine. Recently, I gave myself the goal of no alcohol for a single week. After a week of saying no, it was much easier for me to make this my norm! Make sure you pat yourself on the back for your achievements too. 

This will make my American stand out, but I love working out to country music! Give me a good, foot stomping jam, like Dierks Bentley, 5-1-5-0 and I’m working out with a new level of energy!
